The smash route (here a Drag and then an Out) can be effective against teams playing tight on the goal line. It’s also effective in regular situations after you have a few short drags with success.
Plays
A trips passing play with a run option. If the defense is in man, putting your fastest runner tight give him the ball for big yards. This can be a good extra point play hitting the Red receiver on the slant back to the middle once the Center has cleared out the defense.
This play involves a hand off to a receiver in motion, a quick shovel pass, or a Go route up the sideline that may be wide open as the defense focuses on the other players.
This play with its 3 deep options can open up the offense. However, the Quarterback will be need to create time by avoiding the rush.
While the main focus of this play completing the short pass the Wide receiver coming on the Drag route, depending on how the defense is playing, the Tight receiver on the Corner route is a viable option as well.
